GHANA @ 67 AT KOFORIDUA: IVORIAN PRESIDENT ALASSANE OUATTARA TO GRACE NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Head of State of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, President Alassane Ouattara, will be the Special Guest of Honor for Ghana’s 67th Independence Day parade, which will be held at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
This was announced by Dr. Lord Commey, the Director of Operations at the Presidency, on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday at the launch of the 67th National Independence Day anniversary celebrations.
With about 16 days until the all-important event, preparatory work is ongoing at the Youth Resource Centre at Koforidua, which will host the national parade and highlight the anniversary celebrations, which is themed: “Our Democracy, Our Pride.”
Dr. Lord Commey, in his address, named President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire as the Special Guest of Honor for the Independence Day anniversary, and joining him will be 120 Ambassadors and High Commissioners from various countries, as well as Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament and the 275 Members of Parliament.

He said the President’s decision to rotate the event in different regions of Ghana is to showcase each region’s potential to the world and also help stimulate and foster the local economy’s growth.
He emphasized that President Akufo-Addo’s decision was a way of ensuring all Ghanaians have a feel for the national celebrations, adding that the event marks the last national day celebration for the President.

Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister, said the event would positively impact the local economy and showcase the diverse and vibrant culture of the Eastern Region.
According to him, the Regional Coordinating Council and the different committees involved in the planning process are putting in a lot of effort to ensure a successful national celebration.

The Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Council, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II, who was chairman of the launch, was grateful to the government for selecting the Eastern Region for the celebration.
He was optimistic the celebration would be a memorable one, as the traditional leadership in the region is behind the organizers in whatever they do to make it a success.
