Ghana Audit Service Launches 2020 Financial Year Audits

The Chief of Staff designate, Madam Akosua Frema Opare, has said that the Auditor General’s report over the years has contributed to the protection of the public purse.


She said the report has also created awareness and exposed the dangers posed by corruption, which has provided assurance to the public.


Madam Frema Opare was addressing the media during the launch of the 2020 Financial year Audits, at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra.


The launch was held under the theme “” Partnering the Audit Service in protecting the public purse – Role of stakeholders.”

Mrs Akosua Frema Osei Opare added that as part of efforts to ensure the efficiency and effective delivery of service, management has taken steps to train about 1000 staff in various aspects of auditing to equip them with the requisite skills needed to improve their proficiency.

On his part, the acting auditor general Mr Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu recounted all audit works rendered by the successive auditors general which has resulted in significant financial
Savings in the country.

The audit service, a key player in the fight against corruption is mandated by the 1992 constitution to audit the public accounts and report to Parliament.
