Ghana Is Becoming A Model For Africa In The Agriculture Sector ~ FAO

Ghana is increasingly becoming the food hub of the ECOWAS sub-region as a result of the prudent agricultural policies that have been implemented so far, which has attracted the attention of many global organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

Last week, a delegation from the FAO paid a courtesy call on Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Minister for Food and Agriculture to review work done so far and to ascertain how Ghana was addressing issues of food security, nutrition, statistical data collection and other important metrics in the agriculture sub-sector.

It was clear that Ghana was on the right path to becoming, not just the center of food production within the sub-region, but also a model for countries within Africa.

The FAO was happy about the progress made so far and encouraged the government to continue investing in its flagship Planting For Food and Job program, a policy the organization believes could transform Africa.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.

Let’s work together to achieve this milestone.
