The Hononurble Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon Kwaku Owusu Afriyie has stated that the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would soon make Ghana self sufficient in rice production.
Hon Kwaku Owusu Afriyie made the statement on his satisfaction from the number of rice farmers and the large acreage of land being cultivated in Eastern region.
The comment was made at Koforidua where the Minister ended his 5day tour to some regions including Brong, Brong East, Ashanti and arrived in the Eastern Region.
From the satisfactory work seen, the Hononurable Minister was optimistic in his statement that Ghana would be self sufficient in the next two or three years.
The Hon Minister for Food and Agriculture said the government would do her part by importing rice processing machines from Brazil, India and China to be installed wherever rice is being produced.
In conclusion, Hon Kwaku Owusu Afriyie said deducing from what he saw and the progress of work as analysed by his Regional Directors especially, Henry Crentsil, in the Eastern Region, he is happy to say that the President’s Planting for Food and Job has become very successful and would kick away hunger into the farthest future.
