Government increases the Producer Price Of Cocoa

Government have defied all odds to increase producer prices of cocoa beans for the next cocoa season, this means that a 64-kilo bag would now be sold at GH¢515, while a tone would go for GH¢8,249 which represents 8% increase from the previous price of Ghc475 per bag.

The Minister of State in-charge of Food and Agriculture, Dr Nura Jara announced this at the World International Cocoa Day celebration in Sunyani.

He said despite the tumultuous fall in prices of cocoa on the international market and suggestions by the IMF and President of Ivory Coast to review cocoa prices downwards, government have decided to increase the prices to alleviate the plight of the Ghanaian farmer.
