FIRST BATCH OF STRANDED GHANAIANS IN LEBANON ARRIVES IN GHANA
A batch of stranded Ghanaians in Lebanon, have arrived at the Kotoka International Airport following an appeal which was made through a video by a concerned Ghanaian citizen in Lebanon which went viral, detailing the inhumane conditions some Ghanaians were going through in Lebanon.
This batch have been assisted by Hon Ken Agyapong, who is also the group chairman of Kencity Media ltd, rallied some well meaning Ghanaians both home and abroad, and contributed to facilitate the return of the stranded Ghanaians, most of whom are young ladies.
It may be recalled that; the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon Ken Ohene Agyapong last Wednesday presented an amount of $428,000 to the minister of foreign affairs to facilitate the safe return of some stranded Ghanaians in Lebanon.
The donations of the amounts was as a result of an appeal made to the Hon MP and the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in the crisis especially during this covid19 pandemic and the harsh economic conditions pertaining in the middle eastern country.
Channeling his appeal via NET2 TV and OMAN FM, both subsidiaries of Kencity Media, the effort managed to raise over $428,000 IN TOTAL for the cause with an additional $22,000.00 summing up to $450,000.00
Speaking to Net2 news, the public relations officer for the KIA command; Ghana Immigration service Barbara Sam mentioned that the ladies will be sent to a hotel or a quarantine centre to begin the 14 days mandatory quarantine.
