Hon. Naa Momo Lartey Champions Positive Masculinity and Inclusive Leadership ‎

‎The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Naa Momo Lartey, has emphasized the importance of promoting positive masculinity and inclusive leadership in Ghana. Speaking at a media briefing, Hon. Lartey highlighted the need to address the emotional struggles faced by men and boys, citing issues such as harmful gender stereotypes, mental health, substance abuse, societal pressure, and unemployment.

‎The Minister stressed that positive masculinity is not about diminishing men, but about creating an environment where men are free to express themselves, seek help when needed, and engage with empathy, responsibility, and respect. She announced plans to launch mentorship programs for boys and community campaigns that promote healthy masculinity, as well as invest in the emotional and psychological well-being of men and boys.

‎Hon. Lartey emphasized that Ghana has taken significant steps to advance gender equality, citing the Affirmative Action Gender Equity Act, the Social Protection Act, and the revised National Gender Policy. 

‎She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to inclusive leadership and protection from violence, aligning with the Kinshasa Declaration and Call to Action on Positive Masculinity.

‎The Minister called on stakeholders to work together to build a Ghana where girls, women, men, and persons with disabilities can thrive. 

‎She emphasized that positive masculinity strengthens the leadership of men and that advocacy must protect every individual from all forms of violence, regardless of gender.

‎Hon. Lartey’s message highlights the importance of addressing the emotional struggles faced by men and boys and promoting positive masculinity as a key component of inclusive leadership and gender equality.
