It’s A Conscious Effort To Ramp Up Cocoa Value Chain- President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has showcased Ghana’s recent developments in her cocoa industry on the world stage to heads of states and investors, with a call to ramp up the value.

The President made this presentation on the sidelines at the 2019 Compact With Africa summit held in Berlin in the Federal republic of Germany. The G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) was initiated under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa, including in infrastructure. The CwA’s primary objective is to increase attractiveness of private investment through substantial improvements of the macro, business and financing frameworks.

In his brief remarks to the gathering, President Akufo-Addo said Ghana undertook a conscious effort to ramp up the value chain so as to adequately compensate the farmer, among other objectives.

The President used the occasion to thank Ghana’s development partners who have supported Ghana’s quest for development. Prior to the meeting, President Akufo-Addo was welcomed by German president, Frank-Walter Steinmeier to his office in Berlin.
Here, the president signed the visitors book and later held a behind closed door meeting with the German President, with the meeting touching on relations between the two countries.

The G20 Compact With Africa Summit brings together reform-minded African countries, international organizations and bilateral partners from G20 and beyond to coordinate country-specific reform agendas, support respective policy measures and advertise investment opportunities to private investors.

The president who is accompanied by Ghana’s foreign minister, Shirley Botchwey, and secretary to the president, Nana Bediatuo Asante, among other high ranking officials, leaves for the United Kingdom for a private visit.
