Former Assin Central MP and NPP Presidential Aspirant for 2028, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong,
was honoured at the Sankofa National Prestige Honours 2025, held at the National Theatre in
Accra. The event, chaired by Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, celebrated distinguished
leaders whose vision, sacrifice and service have strengthened Ghana’s national fabric.
Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong received the prestigious award in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic
works, nation-building efforts and his consistency as a statesman who continues to inspire
millions through his message of patriotism, honesty, discipline and love for Ghana.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong reminded Ghanaians of the wisdom
of Sankofa, returning to the values of the past in order to secure the future.
“Patriotism means putting Ghana first, not tribe, not party and not personal ambition. Honesty in
leadership builds trust. And without discipline, our dreams will always remain wishes,” he said.
He warned against the dangers of corruption, describing it as “the theft of hope” and urged both
leaders and citizens to embrace integrity in governance, business and everyday life.
The outspoken legislator dedicated special attention to the youth, charging them to live by values
that will sustain Ghana’s future:
“The egg of Sankofa is in your hands. You are not just tomorrow’s leaders; you are today’s
builders. Do not let corruption become normal in your generation. Dare to be different.”
In a deeply personal moment, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong expressed gratitude upon receiving his
award:
“Thank you very much. I am humbled to receive this honour tonight. But for me, this award is not
about personal recognition; it is about the values that must guide us as a nation. If Ghana is to rise,
we must hold fast to patriotism, honesty and discipline. I dedicate this recognition to the youth of
Ghana, with the hope that you will embrace these values and carry our nation forward with pride
and strength.”
The presence of Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, FChPA, FCMC – King of Owirenkyi
Traditional Area and the President of the Owirenkyi Traditional Council, Assin Kushea as
Chairman of the occasion elevated the event’s prestige, underscoring the importance of blending
traditional wisdom with modern leadership.
In a further show of commitment to knowledge and cultural preservation, Hon. Ken Ohene
Agyapong purchased two books launched at the ceremony, each at GHC50,000 investing a
total of GHC100,000. The gesture drew admiration from the gathering, underscoring his
dedication to education, history and the intellectual empowerment of the nation.
