The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that Korle bu teaching hospital will soon go paperless. This means that patients and health workers will not be carrying folders around especially during referrals.

The Vice President was Guest of Honour at the first Public Lecture organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana as part of their 2019 Annual General Meeting Tuesday evening.

He said he is impressed with the medical innovations being implemented by the young men and women in the healthcare delivery chain, especially with the use of ICT to deliver essential health care.

Dr. Bawumia indicates that the Government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is committed to transforming Ghana through the use of technology, and the application of ICT in healthcare delivery is a key plank of this vision.

He has therefore challenged the Pharmacists and others in the healthcare delivery chain to leverage technology and radically improve access to essential medical supplies.

He said he is confident that a year from now, the prescription and delivery of medicines and health care would be even more technologically-enabled, as Government works in partnership with the private sector to make health care delivery more accessible to the ordinary Ghanaian.

He also stated that Ghanaians should not afraid to be global leaders in the area of digital transformation. He said Ghana should not be waiting for the advanced countries to take the lead before we follow.
