The Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has declared that the Eastern Region is primed to retain the incumbent New Patriotic Party government in power and it will not tolerate any miscreant behaviour from potential troublemakers ahead of the 2024 general elections.
He was speaking at the NPP Eastern Regional Health Walk, dubbed the Final Walk, held at Kwahu-Abetifi over the weekend.
The walk, which commenced at Kwahu-Nkwatia, took thousands of participants through the neighbouring communities and concluded with a mini-rally at Kwahu-Abetifi.
The walk saw leading members of the NPP, including Justin Kodua Frimpong, NPP General Secretary, NPP MPs, parliamentary candidates and MMDCEs in the Eastern region, and former and current Eastern Regional NPP executives, among others, in a demonstration of the party’s unity and dedication to victory.
Addressing the mini-rally, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, who is also the Minister for Food and Agriculture, was confident that the NPP faithful across various constituencies would vote and be declared winners peacefully.
He issued a warning to anyone who might attempt to disrupt the NPP’s victory, stating that they will do so at their own peril and face consequences.
He explained that the Eastern Region is considered a key battleground in the upcoming elections; however, the region has traditionally been a stronghold of the NPP and will give any other party a showdown.
NPP General Secretary Justin Frempong Kodua emphasised the importance of voter vigilance and peaceful conduct on election day.
He said the NPP has set a target of between 28 and 30 parliamentary seats in the Eastern Region for the upcoming election based on its track record of development and hard work over the years.
He encouraged the party faithful to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he described as the custodian of the Free SHS policy, urging them to ensure its continuation.
BYTE JUSTIN FREMPONG KODUA, NPP GENERAL SECRETARY Taking his turn, MP for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, highlighted the strategic importance of the Eastern Region in shaping the composition of parliament.
He called on party faithful to ensure a decisive majority in parliament to enable smooth governance, adding that the NPP needs the majority in parliament, and it is up to the Eastern Region to make that possible.
Attah Akyea also cautioned against voting inconsistencies, such as “skirt and blouse,” urging voters to prioritise party unity.
He said the party’s leadership remains optimistic, reiterating its belief that the Eastern Region will reject former President John Mahama and support the vision of Dr. Bawumia to secure a brighter future for Ghana.
On his part, MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, reiterated that the NPP is the only party that implements good policies and has the teeming youth at heart.
He encouraged the party faithful to intensify their campaigns and vote massively for Dr. Bawumia for bold solutions and also to protect the integrity of the Free SHS.
