The leader of government business in Parliament and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu will be presenting the government’s budget statement today Friday March 12 in Parliament.
This will be the first time a finance minister will not be presenting the budget statement after Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori Atta travelled to the United States to seek medical attention for the complications he suffered after recovering from the coronavirus.
The budget is expected to highlight measures introduced to save the economy from the chains of the coronavirus pandemic.
Analysts including Mr Joe Jackson of the Dalex Finance have asked the government to borrow more to to deal with the ravages of the pandemic.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the government is focused on how the economy will recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet, the Ofoase Ayirebi lawmaker said “As the Executive Branch of Government goes into full throttle tomorrow, our focus is to have the Ghanaian economy recover from the Covid19 induced setback.”
