The public has been cautioned to be extra cautious when using fire for any purpose, because of the current distinctive dryness.
Minister of lands and Natural Resources Kwaku Asumah-Cheremeh has urged farmers and general public to set fire belt around their farms as the harmattan season sets in.
He said Forestry Commission officials and game and wildlife officials will not go into the forest to set it ablaze. But it is those who go for hunting and farmers who fails to take precautionary who are mostly guilty. Mr Asumah-Cheremeh gave the caution at the Aparapi forest reserve in Bechem in the Bono region.
He said so much investment has been made to preserve the forest and it will be suicidal for just one person to destroy the whole forest just for selfish interest.
