In a profound demonstration of unity and compassion, the Honourable Ken Ohene Agyapong marked the 2025 Eid-ul-Fitr celebration with a heartfelt gesture of generosity—donating 336 bags of rice (50kg each) and 500 bags of rice (5kg each) to Muslim communities across Ghana. More than an act of charity, this contribution symbolises an enduring commitment to fostering love, inclusion, and national unity. For over a decade, Hon. Agyapong has upheld this noble tradition, ensuring that his words of solidarity are matched by meaningful action.
This benevolence is not a one-off occurrence. Year after year, Hon. Agyapong has devoted himself to supporting the Muslim faithful during Ramadan and Eid, providing essential sustenance and reaffirming his unwavering support. His selfless contributions have become an integral part of the spiritual fabric of the season, allowing countless families to celebrate with dignity and joy.
In his Eid message earlier this year, Hon. Agyapong expressed his deep admiration for the values of discipline, charity, and spiritual devotion embodied by Muslims during Ramadan. Today, he has once again demonstrated his sincerity—not through words alone but through tangible acts of kindness.
“This donation is a symbol of love,” he affirmed with conviction. “Ghana is not divided by faith—we are united by our shared humanity. Whether Muslim, Christian, or traditionalist, it is our collective duty to uphold the values that bind us: peace, unity, and dignity.”
He went on to share a poignant personal reflection:
“In my own family, my uncle is a Muslim. Half of us are Christians, and the other half are Muslims. We were raised with both Christian and Muslim names, and over time, I have come to cherish what that truly means—unity born from diversity, faith intertwined with mutual respect. The Muslim community has always held a special place in my heart—not just for their loyalty and warmth but for a love that transcends words.
“What moves me most is their steadfast support—when they embrace you, it is with a sincerity and generosity that leaves a lasting imprint on the soul.”
Pausing for a moment of reflection, he continued:
“All I ask of you today is your prayers—for strength and good health. The rest, we leave in the hands of God.”
In a deeply spiritual moment, the Imam and community elders raised their hands to the heavens, offering prayers for Hon. Agyapong—seeking divine protection, wisdom, and longevity in his leadership. The atmosphere was imbued with faith and unity, embodying the very essence of Eid.
With warmth and compassion, he concluded:
“A wealthy man must eat, yes—but so must the poor. That is why I make these donations, so that no home, no heart, feels forgotten during this sacred celebration. God bless you all, and may you celebrate this Sallah with joy in your hearts.
“Ghana belongs to us all, and as citizens—Muslim, Christian, or traditionalist—it is our collective responsibility to uphold the values that unite us: peace, unity, and shared humanity.”
The distribution of the 336 bags of 50kg rice and 500 bags of 5kg rice has been meticulously coordinated through Muslim leaders, Zongo community elders, and youth groups, ensuring that families across the country—from bustling urban centres to the most remote villages—share in the joy of this generous act. Each bag delivered is not merely sustenance; it is a message of solidarity, a testament to love that transcends faith and geography.
Over the years, Hon. Agyapong’s steadfast dedication to supporting faith-based communities has become a defining thread in the tapestry of his leadership—woven with compassion, humility, and an unshakable commitment to serving all people. His approach to leadership does not seek applause but healing; it does not divide but unites. His message is resoundingly clear:
True leadership serves all, embraces all, and uplifts all.
As the crescent moon heralds the conclusion of Ramadan, families will gather in celebration, many with meals made possible by this enduring kindness.
Eid Mubarak to all. May peace, joy, and prosperity fill your homes and hearts.
As we mark the close of this sacred month and step into the promise of a new dawn, may this act of generosity serve as a reminder that love endures, unity is attainable, and even the smallest act of giving can illuminate the path for future generations. May every home touched by this kindness embrace a brighter future, and may the bonds that unite us as one nation only grow stronger.
