Members On Constitutional, Legal And Parliamentary Affairs Must Avail Themselves For Serious Work – Majority Leader

The Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has appealed to members of Parliament who are on the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to avail themselves to work seriously on the various bills that the House is considering to work on them.

He mentioned the names of former MPs in the just past 7th Parliament who were very serious in dealing with bills but never returned to the House as Ben Abdalla Banda former MP for Ofinso South, who was the chairman for the Committee, and others like Hon. Inusah Fuseini, Hon. Yiele Chieleh, and Hon. Shaibu.

Mr. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu added that, currently, only members of Parliament are very active on the committee and urged others to do the same in order to get the various bills passed as and when it gets to the committee.

The minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu also added that President Akufo-Addo has been very slow in this second administration as many boards and corporations are still not constituted or formed, yet the success and failures for our States and governance depend on the performance of these institutions.

He urged President Akufo-Addo to act swiftly in getting these boards ready in order to carry their mandate to get the system working for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

Both Majority and minority leaders made these comments in their open remarks when the House resumed for duty yesterday.
