The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration today led a clean up exercise as part of the UN day celebration.
The cleaning exercise was towards the 74th United Nations Day Celebration on the theme ”A clean environment for a healthy living our collective responsibility”
The ministry together with Ghana Police, the Army, Prison Officers including students hit the street of Nima to clear debris off the gutters.
Speaking to the Chief Superintendent Fani Aboagye, deputy director for international relations and a member of the UN day committee she indicated the clean up exercise is to sensitize the community in Nima about cleanliness and to also take an active lead in the fight against poor sanitation in the country.
Assistant Commissioner, Abraham Acquaye in charge of Nima division was of the view that the sanitation program launched by the president is a laudable idea and has called for enforcement of the policy.
He used the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians not to wait until the end of the month before cleaning their environment but rather it should be daily activity like we eat everyday.
