The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana His Excellency Tsutomu Himeno has expressed delight over the cordial relation between Ghana and Japan, adding that the government of Japan will continue to offer support to Ghana as it pursues its development agenda.
His Excellency Tsutomu Himeno made the comment today when he paid a courtesy call on the Committee for on Foreign Affairs of Parliament and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri.
They discussed issues such as strengthening bilateral relation between Ghana and Japan, democratic governance, and cooperation in the area of industrialization.
According to His Excellency Tsutomu Himeno 54 Japanese companies are currently operating in the country in areas such as automobile, medical and nutrition products and energy (oil and natural gas). He said more Japanese companies are willing to do business in Ghana.
His Excellency Tsutomu Himeno said Japan’s support to Ghana has mainly focused on four areas namely infrastructure such as road construction, skills development and capacity building, agriculture and health.
Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh noted that Japan has relative advantage in industrialization drive from which Ghana learn a lot to help realize the President’s Ghana beyond aid goal. Whilst thanking the government of Japan for it’s support to Ghana, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the One District One Factory is another major area that Ghana will need the support of Japan in the area of machinery to process agriculture produce to add value to the products for export for the country to earn more foreign exchange.
