NAIMOS Accident: Government, Military Leaders Commiserate with Family of Deceased Officer


The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, together with the military high command, has visited the family of Private Sarfo Agyapong, a member of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) taskforce, who died in a motor accident on November 19, 2025, while en route to Obuasi.

During the visit on Friday, November 21, 2025, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, assured the family of the government’s full support.

“I bring you greetings from President John Dramani Mahama. Our brother, Private Agyapong, died in the line of duty to protect Ghana. He was fighting to safeguard our forests and water bodies. We will make all necessary arrangements to support the family. Please be consoled and know that your son is a hero to Ghana,” he said.

The accident occurred as the NAIMOS team was returning to Obuasi after an operation at a concession in Anyankyerim. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle somersaulted between the Anyankyerim community and the Airport Road.

The crash claimed the life of Private Agyapong and left four other officers critically injured. They are currently receiving treatment at the AngloGold Obuasi Hospital.
