The Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has urged nurses and other health workers in the country, to keep faith with the NPP to continue uplifting their welfare and vote massively for its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 7 elections.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh popularly called Napo said former president and NDC candidate, John Mahama cannot be trusted with the welfare of health workers in the country, and urged them to reject the NDC flatly to keep enjoying their trainee allowances.
The NPP running mate made these assertions at a mini rally at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated that the NPP and Dr. Bawumia, in particular, appreciate the significant contributions of nurses in the provision of healthcare to the citizenry.
In this regard, Dr. Prempeh assured that the next NPP administration would implement new policies to help make life better and more comfortable for nurses in the country.

According to him, the nursing trainee allowance policy, which is a brainchild of the NPP administration, would be maintained by Dr Bawumia’s NPP government.
He sternly cautioned that the nursing trainee allowance would be scrapped if the electorates mistakenly voted for former President John Mahama and the NDC.

Dr. Prempeh also said a number of the hospitals, being built under the NPP government’s Agenda 111 programme, would be completed this year to boost healthcare delivery. According to Napo, the completion of the Agenda 111 hospitals would help to provide employment opportunities for more nurses and other health professionals.
He appealed to nurses and nursing trainees in the country to vote for Dr. Bawumia and all the 275 NPP parliament candidates “since the NPP care for nurses”

Other speakers including the Youth organiser of the NPP, Salaam Mustapha the former Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency and former MP for Bantama, Henry Kokofu among others also addressed the health workers.
