The National Election Security Task Force has met with the executives of the Ghana Union of Traders Association(GUTA) to brief them of their preparedness ahead of the elections.
The chairman of the elections security task force, Dr George Akufo Dampare, urged the business community to feel and do their business projection into the future and leave security matters to the task force.
According to him,the initiative by the elections security task force to engage various stakeholders prior to the elections is a deliberate attempt to improve security handling in this this year’s election compared to previous elections.
“We want to tell you to relax and make all your projections into the future, be our democracy has come stay and we are going to protect it with their lives for the sake of generation yet unborn”.
He alluded that the elections security task force has putting a lot of measures in place in ensuring elections security becomes a process and not an event.
Dr. George Akufo Dampare called on the business community to go ahead and make investments that will make a difference in the lives of their communities and of the nation as well.
Dr Serebour Quaicoe,Director of Training at the Electoral Commission, opined that his outfit will do anything within their powers to ensure free,credible, and fair elections
He therefore called on Ghanaians to support the commission to discharge their duties as it has been enshrined by the constitution of the Republic.
According to him,elections credibility does not depend on only one institution. Rather, all stakeholders have different roles to play to ensure free, fair, transparent elections.
He encouraged all registered voters to come out in their numbers to vote because it is their right to so as it is been interpreted by the constitutional instrument(CI).
Dr. Humphery Ayim, president of the Association of Ghana Industries(AGI), commended the elections security task force for the preparedness ahead of the elections.
He pledged the association un wavering support in ensuring that Ghanaians continue to enjoy the peace we are witnessing.
He added that, as an association, they are going to entreat their members to report any report suspicious act by individuals or group of persons via the toll free number provided by the elections security task force.
