Non-Teaching staff of Education Colleges to meet NLC today over ongoing strike

The Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana will later today, Wednesday, meet the National Labour Commission over concerns that have necessitated an indefinite strike.

The association embarked on an indefinite strike from Monday, April 11, 2022.

This follows what the association describes as the reluctance of the appropriate authorities to act on their demand for better conditions of service.

They said their strike is grounded on various issues including wrong placement of First Degree Holders, Non-payment of migration arrears, exclusion of payment of Generic Allowances, partial payment of Office Holding Allowances, and non-payment of Interim Market Premium arrears.

The National Secretary of the Association, Samuel Opoku, shared with Citi News their expectations ahead of the meeting.

“We plan to honour NLC’s invitation today [Wednesday]. What we will do is task the employers to do the needful. The NLC won’t solve the problem. We expect them to task the ones involved to do as we demand.”
