As the New Patriotic Party prepares for its impending parliamentary primaries across the country on April 25, aspiring parliamentary hopefuls have submitted their nominations forms as of the last Thursday deadline.
From the Eastern region, party delegates, and party supporters of the have been urged to run a clean campaign and devoid of offensive language in order to ensure smooth conduct of the primaries in April.
NET2 News was on hand to capture some of the highlights of the filing of nomination forms by aspirants as they bid to represent their various constituencies in parliament.
From Akwatia, over hundreds of supporters of incumbent MP, Ama Sey accompanied her jubilantly through the principal streets of Akwatia amidst drumming.
She was met on arrival at the party office by constituency executives, and submittde her nomination forms to the Party executives. Addressing the gathering after the filing, the incumbent MP pleaded with delegates to support her in bid.
Three other aspirants including Ernest Kumi, a business man , Lawyer Owuradu Donkor and Nana Ampere Twum, a business man have also filed their nomination forms to contest the incumbent.
At Abuakwa north constituency, delegates, party supporters cannot hide their joy when the incumbent MP Gifty Twum Ampofo, arrived at the constituency to file her nomination forms.
Gifty Twum Ampofo was met on arrival at the party secretariat by executives, and handed over the nomination forms to Oheneba Ofori Atta, the election committee chairman for filing.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Gifty Twum Ampofo advised her supporters against offensive language since that has a tendency to divide the party.
At New Juaben North, party supporters cheered on the incumbent MP Nana Agyei Boateng as he made his way to file his forms at the partys office.
Speaking to the gathering after filing his nomination forms, Nana Agyei Boateng pleaded with delegates to support him due to his experience in the house and promised more developmental projects for the constituents.
In the Akropong constituency, supporters and well wishers of DR. William Agyei Twumasi filed his nomination forms on his behalf to contest the parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the NPP.
Addressing the gathering at the forecourt of the party office, the group led by Kwadjo Amoah entreated delegates to work hard to ensure DR William Agyei Twumasi becomes the Npp candidate for the Akropong constituency and subsequently retain the seat during the December general election.
Not long after that, the incumbent MP Nana Ama Dokuaa brought Akropong constituency to a standstill as she made her way to submit her nomination forms.
Addressing the gathering, the incumbent mp called on delegates to give her the nod again to lead the NPP party in the constituency.
According to her in a statement delegates should judge her base on her leadership and lobbying skills which has brought developments to the constituency. She reiterated some of her achievements during her tenure of leadership and promised to do more if voted to lead the party in the constituency.
Two other aspirants including Lawyer Philip Addison – Legal practitioner, and Dr. William Twumasi have filed their forms to contest the Akropong constituency seat for the NPP Party.
