NPP – MANHYIA SOUTH: 4 PERSONS CLEARED TO CONTEST UPCOMING PRIMARY TO REPLACE DR. OPOKU PREMPEH

Four persons aspiring to contest the Manhyia South parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have successfully been vetted after filing their nominations ahead of the upcoming primaries slated for Sunday (14 July).
They are Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, Lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, and James Owusu Boakye. They faced the vetting committee on Wednesday, after which they were placed on the ballot.
They were part of six aspirants who initially picked forms when nominations opened on Monday (8 July). Two others – Kwadwo Amankwaah Antwi and Abdul Rahman Diallo—could not submit their documents at the close of nomination on Tuesday (9 July).
All four aspirants, according to the secretary at the constituency office, Haruna Alhassan, have presented their completed nomination forms, accompanied by banker’s drafts, curriculum vitae, photographs, and receipts.
He added that they had so far paid their filing fees, and none of them were at fault, having paid the full amount of the filing fee and met all the requirements to be able to qualify for the vetting.
The committee, after the vetting, did balloting for the aspirants and said all is set for the parliamentary elections on Sunday, July 14.
Danquah Smith Buttey, the New Patriotic Party’s National First Vice Chairman, called for a clean campaign ahead of the elections on Sunday.
The candidates include the biological brother of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, who is number one on the ballot, and Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, a private legal practitioner, who is placed number two on the ballot.
The number three candidate on the ballot is Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, and an Assembly Member for the Manhyia Electoral Area, James Owusu Boakye, secured number four on the ballot.
The constituency secretary indicated that the party would put in place all the necessary measures to ensure that there was a level playing field for all.
The Manhyia South NPP primary has been triggered following the confirmation of the MP for the area, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as vice presidential candidate ahead of the 2024 elections.
