A New Patriotic Party (NPP) volunteer group based in the Greater Accra Region, ‘The Regional Volunteer Force’ has fumigated the premises and environs of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital at Asylum Down, in a bid to protect health workers and patients against mosquitoes and communicable diseases in the area.

The volunteer group also presented items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital as they ramp up their campaign operations in the Greater Accra region, ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The items include industrial cleaning materials, detergents, and used clothes among others.

The Regional Volunteer Force of the NPP were led by a member of the Council of State and former Mayor of Accra, Stanley Adjiri-Blankson, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and former Ambassador to Canada, Nii Ayikoi Otoo and the former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the former MP for Krowor, Madam Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, among other executives of the party.

Madam Afoley Quaye in her short address, echoed the government’s commitment to deepening health care for Ghanaians, stressing that the NPP is focused on the human capital development of health workers with the payment of nursing training allowances, and also on developing the needed infrastructure for health care delivery in the country, with the ‘Agenda 111’ policy.

Speaking with the media on the sidelines, Madam Afoley Quaye further assured NPP supporters that the party is poised to win back its lost seats in the Greater Accra Region.

Nii Ayikoi Otoo, reiterated the NPP’s desire to make quality healthcare accessible to all, the reason for the government’s spirited efforts to construct the Agenda 111 hospital project which includes the Psychiatric Hospital to cater for mental health patients.

Mr Stanley Adjiri-Blankson expressed gratitude for the efforts of the hospital staff in the discharge of their duties for mental health patients and assured the health workers that all the pledges made by the NPP Flag bearer, Dr Bawumia will be fulfilled.
