Oak for President urged delegates to vote for aspirant with broad plan for Ghana

A group affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), known as OAK for President, have urged delegates to vote for Ken Ohene Agyapong, as he is a passionate leader for Ghana’s development, emphasising his bold ideas, clean track record, and commitment to patriotism, honesty, and discipline.

They assert that voter sentiments indicate Ghanaians are unlikely to elect another presidential candidate from the Northern region in 2028.

The group is urging party delegates to vote for Ken Ohene Agyapong as the NPP’s flagbearer, citing limited enthusiasm among Ghanaians for another northern presidential candidate following John Dramani Mahama’s tenure.

Addressing the media in Koforidua, in the Eastern Region, OAK for President coordinator for Abuakwa North, George Nelson Gyimah, referenced in remarks by Dr Bawumia himself during the 2028 election campaign, questioning whether Ghanaians would be willing to vote for another northern candidate after President John Dramani Mahama.

He noted that pre-2024 projections suggested Dr Bawumia’s northern and Muslim background would significantly boost support in Zongo communities and the northern regions, but these expectations weren’t met in the election results. He emphasised that their stance is “not about ethnicity or prejudice, but about electoral mathematics, voter psychology, and the national mood.

Yaa Ansaa Safori, National Women’s Coordinator for OAK, highlighted Ken Ohene Agyapong’s credibility and capabilities, arguing that he’s the strongest candidate to win power in 2028.

She urged delegates to vote for Ken Ohene Agyapong, citing the need to create jobs and alleviate hardship for Ghana’s youth.

David Yaw Andoh, Eastern Regional Coordinator for OAK, emphasized that Ken Ohene Agyapong is a grassroots leader whose popularity and impact transcend party, ethnic, and religious lines, adding that he embodies what he promises and is the most potent antidote to the NPP’s challenges.
