Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III Has Spoken Against Stigmatization In This Era Of COVID-19

The MP for Asikado Ketan & Minister for Railway development, Hon Joe Ghartey backed by the Eastern regional minister, Hon Eric Kwakye Darfour who is also the MP for Nkawkaw visited Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo to give some support to the chiefs and the various assemblies in the fight against the coronavirus.

In a brief remarks at Asuogyaman, the Eastern regional minister, Hon Kwakye Darfour spoke about the area in the region where this covid-19 has shown its ugly head. He said the affected area are the areas where this major railway development is to take place.

He said the Prez who initiated this construction of railway line through the affected areas has therefore sent his minister to go to take up the challenge in the fight against the disease by supporting the chiefs.

Hon Joe Ghartey, in his address, lauded Odeneho Kwafo Akoto for leading the chiefs to join the assembly to educate the people on the protocols in the fight against covid-19 and to allay the fear when people test positive. He said if the chiefs do not get involved, the outcome would not be good for the country. He said said indeed, the disease has caused great setback to the rate of development but he is optimistic that as the Lord lives, we would surely overcome.

Odeneho Kwafo Akoto and his subjects who were all wearing mouth & nose masks spoke about stigmatization. He said for fear to be quarantined people run to hide but that is rather a worry because such people endanger themselves and that of others in the community.

He also talked about the need to equip their district hospital to meet up with the taking of samples for testing and requested for more test kits.
