Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III & His Chiefs Leads Okuapeman In The Green Ghana Program

The President’s Initiative which has become a national program that started today has also been replicated all over the eastern region with the hands of Traditional leaders, Religious leaders, MPs, and Chief executives on deck.
At Akropong – Akuapem, the Omanhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III and some chiefs moved to H’Mount Sinai SHS where the tree planting in Akuapem North Municipality started.
Planting was done by the Omanhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo himself, Krontihemaa – Nana Oye II, MCE – Barimah Asiedu Larbi, Director of Plant Medicine Research – Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah, Forestry officer – Mrs. Joyce Owusu Sekyereh, Chief Imam – Alhaji Haruna Abdul, and then the Headmistress, Senior Prefect and Teachers of the school.
Species of trees planted are Mahogany and Mangoes.
In all Akuapem North Municipality would be planting between 20,000 & 25,000 trees of Mahogany, Mango, Citrus, Palm, Acacia, and others.
Before planting the trees, the Omanhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III lauded the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the vision and spoke about the importance of trees.
He said the availability of trees all over on the Akuapem ridge is a contributing factor to the good breeze, good health, and long life enjoyed by their grandfathers and great grandfathers. It is also a factor that keeps attracting people to the ridge.
He said he has planted a number of trees in his backyard and continues enjoying the good breeze from them. He, therefore, advised all to take it upon themselves to plant at least, a tree and make sure the tree grows.
