Oman FM’S Nana Esi Boateng Scoops Ghana Shippers Award Best Reporter For 2021

Oman Fm’s Nana Esi Boateng, the two times GJA’ s Best Maritime Journalist of the Year 2017& 2018 has again won the Ghana Shippers Awards Best Reporter of the year award, 2021.

The Ghana Shippers Awards provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the growth and development of the industry while recognizing the key functions within the industry that promote growth and sustainability.

Nana Esi Boateng of Oman Fm’s maritime and ports news anchor who was nominated for the best logistics and shipping reporter of the year category competed with 2 other nominees for the coveted award.

Winner of the Logistics and Shipping reporter of the year Nana Esi Boateng is the Head and anchor of maritime and port news and has been reporting in the industry for more than eight years.

She is the Presidential Reporter at the Jubilee House (Ghana’s seat of the presidency) for Oman FM, one of Ghana’s most listened to radio stations. She is also the Head and Anchor of Maritime and Port News Desk and Presenter.

Currently, she is an executive member in charge of Port Development and Infrastructure for the Women in Maritime Africa (WIMA) –Ghana chapter, a fellow of the African Women in Shipping, the Financial Officer of the African Maritime Journalist Association (AMJA), a member of the Port Journalist Network (PJN), a National Youth Management Member of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), the President of the Young Ladies Ministry, (CAC) and Former Youth Leader, Christ Apostolic Church, Adenta Central.

With her dedication, hard work and quest for excellence, she won the first ever Best Maritime Journalist of the Year Award in 2017, an annual award scheme organized by the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA). In 2018, she again won the Ghana Journalist Associations(GJA) Best Maritime Journalist of the year award for excellently reporting and writing stories about the maritime and port industry.

The 2021 Ghana Shippers Awards which is the fourth in the series since its inception, is a collaboration between the Ghana Shippers Authority and the Globe Production

The ceremony was held last Friday at the Kempiski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra to recognize achievements from local and international companies involved in the shipping sector in Ghana.

It is also to reward those that have played a defining role in moving the shipping industry forward.

The multiple award winner expressed her delight at the award and was hopeful this will spur her on to further milestones in her career.

She paid glowing tribute to those who have shaped her journey to achieving this recognition.

She noted that her interest in the maritime industry deepened from the fact that most of the goods we consume imported into the country and it became imperative for her the help the general public understand the nuances of the industry.

She, therefore, believes that her insightful education and reporting in the industry would reveal the effect of the shipping industry on the environment and also inform policymakers on decision making.
