Pay National Food Buffer Stock Company To Supply Food To Schools- Dr. Apaak

The Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee and MP for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has called on the government to settle the arrears of Three Hundred and Forty Million Ghana cedis owed Ghana food buffer stock company to enable them to supply food to the various Senior high schools in the country.

He said, according to the education minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the government is owing the company an amount of Gh 340 million Cedis which he believe is affecting the delivery of buffer stock company and therefore called on the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to do everything possible and settled the debt.

Dr. Apaak further called on the government to clear arrears of Gh 21 million cedis owe to the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) for the year 2021 and also an amount of Gh 96 million Ghana cedis which the institute needs to prepare adequately for this year’s (2022) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West Africa Examination Council (WACE).

He said, all these debts owe to the National Food Buffer Stock Company and WAEC is seriously affecting the quality of delivery of these state agencies, and the earlier the government release funds to settle them, the better for Ghanaian students.

Dr. Clement Apaak made all these revelations in a press conference held in Parliament today.
