Police announces joint patrols with the military to maintain post-election peace

The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement assuring the public of their continued efforts to maintain peace and security following the 2024 general elections. They have emphasized the importance of collaboration with the military, with joint day-and-night patrols being a key strategy to ensure security.

The police are pleased with the calm state of the nation after the elections, attributing this to the effective security measures coordinated by the police, military, and other security agencies under the National Election Security Taskforce, supported by the public.

The police highlighted that intelligence-led operations and the deployment of security personnel to strategic locations have played a crucial role in safeguarding the country.

Additionally, they continue to engage with stakeholders to address security concerns proactively.

Since the elections, 115 individuals have been arrested for various offenses, with nine apprehended in the past 24 hours.

While the situation remains calm, the police urged the public to stay vigilant and assured them that efforts to maintain peace will not slacken.

They also reminded citizens to report security issues using the toll-free number 0800311311. The police expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation in maintaining peace.
