Prophet and counsellor D.Y. Donkoh has publicly apologized following his arrest in connection with a prophecy in which he predicted the death of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.
Donkoh was taken into police custody at his home on the night of Friday, July 25, 2025, after a video of the prophecy widely circulated on social media sparked fear and concern among the public.
In the video, the self-proclaimed prophet claimed he had seen a vision of Shatta Wale being fatally shot in a two-part attack carried out by unidentified assailants.

The prophecy ignited widespread outrage online and drew a strong response from Shatta Wale, who said he was traumatized by the public declaration. The musician accused Donkoh of using fear to attract attention and called for his arrest, warning that he would take further action if authorities failed to act.
Police responded promptly and arrested Donkoh later that same day.
In his formal apology, Counsellor Donkoh maintained that he believed the prophecy was divinely inspired but emphasized that he never intended to incite panic or distress.
“I sincerely regret any trauma my message may have caused Shatta Wale and his team. Moving forward, I will be more spiritually discerning and sensitive in how I share such revelations,” he stated.
He acknowledged the emotional toll the prophecy may have had and pledged to handle similar matters with greater care and responsibility in the future.
