Prosper Narteh Ogum appointed Black Starlets head coach.

Former Asante Kotoko gaffer has been appointed by the executive council of the Ghana football association to oversee the managerial duties of the national under 17 team ,the black starlets.

Dr. Ogum will be in the helm of affairs for the upcoming WAFU B under 17 boys tournament set to be hosted in Nigeria. He has replaced Coach Frimpong Manso who was previously in charge of the starlets. He led Bibiani Gold stars to their first ever Ghana premier league title and has now decided to step aside to fully focus on Bibiani Gold stars preparations towards their inaugural CAF champions league campaign.

The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, set for September 2025, will serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations. With this crucial competition approaching, the Executive Council has appointed Dr. Ogum to lead the Black Starlets’ quest to reclaim their status on the continental stage.

Coach Ogum boasts of a rich coaching portfolio having led Asante Kotoko to a league crown and also steering WAFA to a second place in the Ghana premier league. He previously had stints with Ebusua Dwarfs and also was an assistant coach of the black galaxies team. With his background in talent development and tactical acumen, he is a fitting choice to lead the starlets to success.

The GFA will provide logistical and technical support to ensure that coach Ogum has a solid mandate to intensify player training, selection and the readiness of a team to compete at the highest level while approaching the tournament.

Coach Ogum has also been appointed as the new head coach of education to relieve the duties of black stars assistant coach Desmond offei.
