Public Procurement Ministry schools MP’s on procurement

The Ministry of Public Procurement has organised a two day workshop for Chairmen of some selected Committees of Parliament for them to appreciate the importance of Public Procurement.

Speaking at the program, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu said for Ghana to move forward we must deal with our dishonesty as a people.

According to him, everybody is aware of the rules of bidding for a contract but if someone bid for a contract and does not win he/she will say the person who won the contact has paid bribe which is not helping develop the country.

Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu said it will be important for everyone to change his attitude to move the country forward.

The Minister for Procurement and MP for Dome Kwabenya Lawyer Adwoa Safo who double as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament said they are doing that to equip the legislature with procurement to promote good governance and save money for the country and also help the President to achieve Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.

Lawyer Adwoa Safo indicated that, Procurement is where corruption mostly occur which waste our resources and it is important to strengthen the law to avoid such leakage of public purse.
