The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Atiwa West Constituency, Lawyer Korkor Asante, has demonstrated her commitment to address the infrastructural, social, and economic needs of her constituents, with a focus on economic empowerment through apprenticeship and entrepreneurial skills development.
She believes this will render the youth economically self-reliant and ensure a prosperous future.
Lawyer Abena Korko Asante, through her personal effort, teamed up with resource persons to organize one-on-one training in fish farming for over 100 youth in her constituency at Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.
She emphasized her intention to equip the youth with employable skills and facilitate business opportunities or employment in the area.
Speaking to a cross section of the media after the program, the parliamentary candidate for Atiwa West Constituency, Lawyer Abena Korko Asante, established that Ghana’s fisheries sector is indeed a vital component of the country’s socio-economic development, which can contribute significantly to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), accounting for about 4.5%.
Each of the beneficiaries received comprehensive equipment that includes waterproof tanks for fish storage and transportation, a set of pillars and pipes for fish farming infrastructure, as well as holes and nets for fishing and aquaculture practices. There were other essential tools and accessories to support their fishing and aquaculture endeavors.
