The Group Chairman of Kencity Media Ltd., Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, has pledged to support the immediate family of the late Martin Kwabena Kwakye, especially in the area of education, as his widow’s mite in honouring the legacy of the renowned media practitioner.
Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong made this pledge at a requiem mass during the One Week commemoration of the passing of Kwabena Kwakye, popularly known as Wofa KK, the Director of Radio at Oman FM, a subsidiary of Kencity Media Ltd., at Madina on Saturday.
Wofa KK died on February 14, this year, after a brief illness at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Legon.
For more than 6 hours, scores of mourners and well-wishers from all walks of life joined the family, and the management and staff of Kencity Media at the forecourt of Kencity Media Ltd. to pay tribute and celebrate the life and works of Wofa KK.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who represented President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, led the hierarchy from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which included the party’s Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim, First Vice Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, to pay homage to Wofa KK.
Others to grace the One Week observance included former chairman of the NPP, Mr. Freddy Blay, the leader and founder of the Movement For Change, Mr. Alan Kyeremanten, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, Capt Koda, and delegations from the National Democratic Congress, led by its Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi, the Ghana Journalists Association, and the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), among many others.
The Chief Executive Officer of Kencity Media Ltd., Madam Stella Wilson, who welcomed the guests, entreated all to love one another as life is fleeting and there was no need for qualms.
Hon. Ken Agyapong, who is also the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, paid glowing tribute to Wofa Kwabena Kwakye, chronicling his constructive involvement in the genesis of Oman FM. He said Wofa KK was a stalwart in the media industry and an ardent believer in ethics and professionalism.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, also on behalf of the party, hailed the contributions of the host of ‘Boiling Point’ to the success of the party and commiserated with Kencity Media and the family.
The Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Freddy Blay, paid special tribute to Wofa KK, a board member at GNPC.
