ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT: ATIWA WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY UNVEILS DRIP EQUIPMENT

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa West District, Hon. Douglas Paddy Amponsah, has called for effective collaboration among stakeholders during the unveiling of new road equipment, known as the “District Road Improvement Programme” (DRIP) at Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.
The DRIP is designed to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and equipment to rehabilitate and maintain roads within their areas.
The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to decentralization and providing local authorities with the tools to effect meaningful change.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Douglas Paddy Amponsah, emphasized the significance of the project, describing it as a game-changer since it would boost the district’s economic activities. He mentioned the role well-constructed roads play in the socio-economic development of every community.
He praised the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for the DRIP initiative, designed to provide lasting solutions to the challenges facing the road sector.
The DCE acknowledged that many communities have struggled with poor road conditions and mentioned rehabilitation of existing roads in the district that remain disconnected due to the absence of accessible roads.
The DCE further disclosed the high cost of hiring equipment to undertake road projects, estimated at GHC 6,500 for only six hours per day, rendering the Common Fund invaluable.

Douglas Paddy Amponsah was happy the job opportunities DRIP would create and called on all stakeholders, including the landlord associations and the quarry industries, to support the assembly to succeed in the task ahead.
He further outlines some areas in the region, which will soon witness improvement of their road networks.

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Atiwa West constituencies, Lawyer Abena Korko Asante, expressed her profound appreciation for the District Road Improvement Program to improve the road network in the Atiwa West District.
She said the district has expanded in terms of population and infrastructure, including road construction yet a poor road network is still a major challenge in the district.
Lawyer Abena Asante tasked the people of Atiwa West Constituency to vote for the NPP in the December 7 election since it’s the only hope for the people of Ghana. She added that NPP has good policies and programs that can transform Ghana.

The Chairman for the occasion, Nana Osei Adom II, the Chief of Akyem Tumfa, lauded the visionary leadership of President Akuffo Addo and his Vice, Dr. Bawumia for the initiative and assured the DCE of their unwavering support to make the project a success.
He expressed his appreciation to the authorities for showing interest in the development of the district and Eastern Region at large.
