Bantama constituency on Saturday morning went agog for faithfuls of the New Patriotic Party, when a Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Francis Asenso Boakye, filed his nomination forms to contest the upcoming New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries to be held on April 25, 2020.
Francis Asenso Boakye, who is also the political assistant to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led his cheering retinue of supporters, through some principal streets of the constituency en route to the party office, where the executives of the party, received him.
After filing his nomination papers, the deputy chief of staff appealed to party supporters to allow a healthy contest between the aspirants to prevail without acrimony.
He said even though there is a clamour by supporters for a campaign team, he recognises all supporters as members of his campaign team and appealed to party members in the constituency to give him the nod.
Francis Asenso Boakye asked party supporters to select the most competent candidate among the contestants who would bring the needed development for Bantama.
A constituency executive who received the filing forms advised Francis Asenso Boakye’s followers to go about their campaign in peace to maintain the stability the of the constituency.
Later in an interview with the media, Francis Asenso Boakye reiterated his commitment to the party and the constituency.
He reassured his teeming supporters with his credentials, which according to him puts him in a great position to represent the constituency in Parliament, while playing his role as an agent for development.
Like President Akufo-Addo, this is the third time the former founding president of TESCON will be contesting the ticket to represent the constituency of Bantama.
An indigene of Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye’s political profile includes many roles firstly as a foot soldier, a student activist and later the founding President of the Tertiary Institutions Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON).
Aside TESCON, he also served as a youth organizer for the North America branch of the party, before becoming the political assistant to the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
