Tensions continue to rise within the Dome-Kwabenya branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a group calling itself the Concerned NPP Members of Dome-Kwabenya has laid bare what they claim are the true reasons behind the party’s loss of the parliamentary seat in the just-ended elections.
At a press conference held at the NPP Constituency Office in Dome, the group, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Frimpong, accused the constituency’s leadership of manipulation, incompetence, and self-interest, which they believe cost the party dearly.
The group pointed fingers at the Constituency Executive Committee (CEC), alleging that their gross incompetence and insensitivity created divisions within the party.
One of the major allegations was the deliberate removal of over 600 polling station executives from the party’s album before the elections, a move they described as a “diabolic act” aimed at favouring the eventual parliamentary candidate, Mike Oquaye Jr.
The group did not hold back in their criticism of Mike Oquaye Jr., stating that he superintended the party’s loss in the constituency.
This resentment, they believe, contributed to voter apathy on election day.
The concerned NPP Members have called on the National Executives to intervene immediately and restructure the party’s leadership in Dome-Kwabenya.
They have also demanded that none of the current Constituency Executive Committee members be allowed to oversee future polling station and coordinator elections.
