TVET Not For Dull Students – Ashanti Regional Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah has urged Ghanaians to desist from the notion that TVET courses were for students who were not academically brilliant was one of the factors that discouraged people from studying those courses at both secondary and tertiary levels.

According to the minister, “TVET is never for the second-grade individual, it is never for the people who are not smart.”

Hon Simon Osei Mensah made the appeal in an interview with Ghana enterprise Agency and presented startup kits to over 1000 young people in the Ashanti region, after successfully undergoing apprenticeship training in Kumasi, Obuasi, Konongo Mampong Agona and Ejura.

The recipient has acquired various technical and vocational skills to enable them to establish their own business as we as improve their operation.

The start-up kits include sewing machines and accessories, electrical tools, hairdryers and their accessories, leather works machines, ovens and many more.

This formed part of the master card young Africa project which aims to target creating 39,000jobs for young people in the country.

presented the startup kits to the beneficiaries in the Ashanti Region and urged the to put the skills they had acquired and the kits to good use.

Simon Osei Mensah advised them to do their work diligently ANDtrain others to also do well for everyone to take good care of their family.

Mrs. Kosi Nyankey Ayeh, the Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Enterprise Agency(G.E.A) discloses that the purpose of G.E.A is to reduce the unemployment rate in the country and help the young people across the country to identify individuals and discover inner abilities and talents.

During a days tour of the ongoing graduation ceremony of the young Ghanaians who have acquired training and skills by Ghana Enterprise Agency in collaboration with Master Card Foundation in Ashanti Regional, Mrs.Kosi Nyankey Ayeh stated that she’s expecting to see improvement from these young graduates and also to train and help others to also to discover their inner abilities in near future through the training and skills given to them.
She mentioned, G.E.A and Master Card Foundation are laying down preventive measures to overcome the unemployed challenges of young Ghanaians in the country.

The young graduates also expressed their profound gratitude to the government, G.E.A and Mastercard Foundation for massive free training and skills.
