UNFPA And Ghanaian Actress Jackie Appiah Joins Office Of The First Lady To Support ‘Kayayei’

As part of efforts to mitigate economic suffering brought about by the covid-19 pandemic and regulations to control its spread, the pandemic in Ghana has seen many celebrities and public figures show the world how philanthropic they can be.

Award-winning Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah has also joined the train by donating relief items to support the Rebecca foundation relief boxes challenge launched in Accra on April 2, 2020.

The initiative which is in partnership with corporate Ghana and other partners is working towards supporting the most vulnerable women who will have difficulties in providing food as well as basic hygiene products for themselves and their families in light of the current situation.

In an interview with Jackie Appiah, she mentioned that the donation was to support the less privileged in the society. She further challenged people to do same.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have also donated some items  which is  was in line with the “Relief Boxes Challenge,The items included 100 Veronica buckets, bar soap, 200 gallons of liquid soap, 100 gallons of Bleach ,1,000 bottles of hand sanitizers, 1,000 pieces of nose masks and 500 pieces of sanitary pads.

Dr Robert K. Mensah, Reproductive Health Specialist for UNFPA, in an interview with the media said the donation forms part as part of its widows might is to ensure the welfare of the head porters.

In a related development, Director of Operations of the Rebecca Foundation, Mrs Akosua Newman, presented some other items on behalf of the Rebecca Foundation to the Accra regional hospital.
