The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated a Therapy Garden to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service to enhance the healing and recovery of survivors of domestic violence.
At the commissioning ceremony of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit Therapy Garden, the Director-General of DOVVSU, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Owusuwaa Kyeremeh, described the Therapy Garden as a significant step toward strengthening survivor-centered care.

She explained that the serene space has been created to support counselling sessions, quiet reflection, and emotional restoration as part of the broader recovery process for victims.
According to her, the initiative underscores the importance of providing holistic support systems that go beyond legal intervention to address the psychological and emotional well-being of survivors.

She also appealed to the general public and corporate bodies to support the Unit’s efforts, including donating refreshments and other essential items to assist victims receiving care.

A representative from United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), Selasie Ishmeal reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of survivors of domestic violence.
He emphasized the need for collective action to end gender-based violence and urged men who engage in abusive behavior to desist, highlighting that violence undermines families and communities alike.
