UPSA NAMES HOSTEL AFTER DR. MATTHEW OPOKU PREMPEH FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATION: NAPO CALL ON YOUTH TO VOTE FOR DR. BAWUMIA & NPP AS HE INTERACTS WITH UPSA TESCON

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has named a newly constructed hostel after Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate for the 2024 elections, in recognition of his transformative contributions to education in Ghana.
The ceremony on the university’s campus celebrated Dr. Prempeh’s visionary leadership as Minister for Education and his pivotal role in supporting infrastructure development in tertiary institutions.
The new hostel is expected to accommodate over 5000 students, easing accommodation challenges on campus and providing a conducive environment for academic excellence.
In his address, Dr. Kofi Ohene Konadu, Chairman of the UPSA University Council, extolled Dr. Prempeh’s immense contributions to the university’s development. He particularly acknowledged Dr. Prempeh’s instrumental role in facilitating the funding and construction of the state-of-the-art facility, now named the “Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Hostel.”

The Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, echoed these sentiments, lauding Dr. Prempeh’s enduring legacy in Ghana’s education sector.

Dr. Prempeh expressed profound gratitude to UPSA for the recognition in his acceptance remarks.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh later had an engagement with students of the university, where he called on them to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections.
Addressing a packed auditorium on campus, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s unparalleled vision for Ghana, particularly in driving digital transformation and economic growth.
The former Education Minister reminded the students of the achievements under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He contrasted this with the record of former President John Dramani Mahama, describing his tenure as one characterized by economic mismanagement and policy reversals.

Dr. Prempeh urged the students to make their voices heard by turning out their numbers to vote.
He appealed to the students to spread the message of hope and transformation across their communities, assuring them that the NPP remains focused on delivering a brighter future for all Ghanaians.

Other speakers at the interaction with the students included Stephen Atubiga, a former presidential aspirant of the NDC, and Jennifer Afagbadzi, the La-Nkwantang Madina MCE.
