Veteran actor Mawuli Semevo passes away due to complications from a fire accident

Veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away. He reportedly died at the Ridge Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for severe burns from a domestic fire accident that occurred at his home on Friday, February 7.

The actor, who resided at Adenta SSNIT Flats, is said to have tried to escape the blaze, which began in the living room while he was sleeping in the bedroom at the time.

He collapsed shortly after making it outside and was quickly rushed to the Ridge Hospital by neighbors, where he had been receiving treatment until his passing.

Medical reports had indicated that his survival could only be determined after 21 days, but sadly, he passed away today, 13 days after the tragic accident. His death was confirmed by actor and Creative Lead for Image Bureau, George Quaye, who paid tribute to his remarkable acting skills and honored his memory. He wrote, “In shadows deep, the stage now stands so bare, The laughter fades, replaced by heavy air…”

In a separate post, he expressed, “A heart that danced through every tale and role, Now rests in peace. In sorrow’s sad grip…”

Mawuli Semevo was a highly acclaimed actor, renowned for his exceptional talent and versatility on both stage and screen.

His impressive filmography includes standout performances in films such as “Harvest at 17”, “A Stab in the Dark”, “Escape of Love”, “Like Cotton Twines”, and “The Good Old Days: The Love of AA”.

He played the role of Baba Fakunle in the adaptation of Ola Rotimi’s “The Gods Are Not to Blame”, produced by Image Bureau and April Productions, which was staged at the National Theatre last year.
