Ghana defender Gideon Mensah will miss Ghana Blackstars AFCON qualifying matches against South Africa and Soa Tome after picking up a fresh injury in their game against Gil Vicente in the Portuguese League over the weekend.
Mensah fought his way into the starting eleven after arriving on loan in the summer transfer window from Red Bull Salzburg and has been the number choice for Vitòria Guimarães at the left back.
In Gideon Mensah’s absence, defender Imoro Ibrahim of Asante Kotoko has been given a late call up to replace him at the Blackstars camp to give Baba Rahman a competition for the upcoming games.
Gideon Mensah has played 15 league games this season and three cups for the Senior team of Ghana, Blackstars.
