We Are Not Land Guards-Head of Government Lands Taskforce Fumes

Clemence Gyato, Head of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and Food and Agriculture Taskforce says his men who were deployed to some eight acres of land around University of Professional Studies to reclaim government land were beaten and knocked one down by a vehicle by some illegal squatters.

According to Mr Gyato some people had also reported to the police that they are land guards based upon that, Legon Police acted swiftly to arrest them.

Speaking to him, he indicated that they are legitimate group who have been assigned to reclaim all government land across the country.

Meanwhile they have been conducting operations since two years ago and have reclaimed over thousand lands which belongs to the government.

Some lands which has been reclaimed by the taskforce including, Nungua Farms, Borteyman Dairy Farm and some government lands at Pokuase and Amasaman respectfully.

Mr Gyato also called on the law enforcement agency to bring perpetrators to book.

The Head of the Taskforce, Mr Clemence Gyato indicated that people who are deliberately occupying government lands should move to avoid sad eviction or demolition.

He said those lands are needed by the government for developmental projects for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

Oman Fm Parliamentary correspondent Nana Ampofo Ayeh later spoke to one the affected victim who is currently receiving medical treatment at the Legon Hospital.
