We Want Government And COCOBOD To Make Laws Against Cutting Of Cocoa Trees

Some cocoa farmers in West Akim Municipality have appealed to the government and cocoa board to make a law to banned cutting down of cocoa trees in this country.

According to them if u cut down one cocoa tree, cocoa farmers will lose millions of cedis therefore u can imagine how much the farmer and the country lose when an acre of the cocoa farm is destroyed.

They added the rate at which sand winners, galamseyers are destroying their cocoa farms is unbelievable.

They made these statements at Nyanoa when West Akyim Cooperatives Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union Ltd opened their bank at Nyanoa to help the cocoa farmers by saving and getting loans to boost their cocoa farming.

President for West Akyim Cooperatives Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union Ltd, Mr. Sampson Adu Essel said at first most of the cocoa farmers keep their monies at home and some even keep it in their farms which was not best.

He added some of them lose their money as a result of fire outbreaks and robbers, therefore, they thought it wise to get a bank for their people so that they can have a habit of savings and also to get a loan to help their farming.

He added this particular government has really helped the cocoa farmer
