The ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service in partnership with Zoomlion launches nationawide fumigation and disinfection exercise to disinfect all the senior high schools both public and private across the country.
Speaking at the launch, the minister for Education and MP for Menshyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh said the fumigation exercise is going to be done to fight bedbugs and other rodents which are disturbing students.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh reiterated that cleanliness is next to Godliness and called on all Ghanaians to continue to wash and keep their social distancing and if one do not have anything essential doing outside to stay at home to avoid the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
According to the minister for Education, disinfection exercise will also be done disinfect the various school against Coronavirus pandemic because most school are currently being used as a Coronavirus center and it important to disinfect all the schools before students get back to school.
The Director General GES, Prof Opoku Amankwah speaking to Oman Fm Parliamentary correspondent Nana Ampofo Ayeh, he said the GES do not have an objection to government using most of their facilities as Coronavirus center but he rather pleaded with government to disinfect all the schools before school reopens.
Mr I.K Mensah President of Conference of Heads of Private Second Cycle Schools was grateful for government considering them in this exercise and it is the first of it kind that the Private schools are being added.
Mr Mensah used the occasion and called on government to support them by factoring them into the Coronavirus pandemic alleviation funds that will cushion them to pay their staff.
