MOTHER THERESA GOES HOMES:THANKSGIVING SERVICE WRAPS UP FUNERAL RITES FOR FORMER FIRST LADY

A special Thanksgiving and Memorial service for the late former First Lady, Theresa Aba Kufuor, has been held at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Kumasi on Sunday, bringing to finality her final funeral rites.
Theresa Kufuor died on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the age of 87. Theresa Kufuor, born on October 25, 1935, had been married to John Kufuor for 61 years. She served as first lady from 2001 to 2009.
The Thanksgiving service was graced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, among several high-ranking personalities from various social backgrounds.

A state funeral was previously held for the former First Lady on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the forecourt of the State House and was subsequently laid in state at the Heroes Park in Kumasi on Saturday, where hundreds of mourners and well-wishers turned up to pay their last respects to the former nurse. The late Theresa Aba Kufuor was laid to rest on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, where grand final funeral rites were also held at the Heroes Park.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca, together with several New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts, were present to mourn with former President John Kufuor and his family.
Scores of mourners, including government officials, Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers of State, and traditional and religious leaders, also showed up in their numbers to bid the late Mrs. Kufuor farewell.
