NIGERIAN SINGER MOHBAD DIES AT 27!

The management of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad, has confirmed his demise.

They announced Mohbad’s death in a statement shared on the artiste’s official Twitter profile, @iammohbad_.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023,” the statement said.

This follows the reaction of ogbonge singer and record label YBNL CEO Olamide Adedeji to the death of Mohbad.

On Tuesday evening, a story began trending on social media: saying the Nigerian artist had died.

The Nigerian rapper and music producer, Olamide, had posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) saying “Damn! Mohbad” and adding a heartbreak emoji. He also posted “This life”.

This was after the story of the 27-year-old’s death began spreading on X.

Reality TV star Tacha also posted about the story.

“Mohbad was light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

“Imole is finally at peace,” the statement adds.

Several Mohbad fans, other musicians, and Nigerians have reacted to the story of his death as they mourn and send tributes on social media.

One of his colleagues, Emeka Akumefule aka Blaqbonez, posted on X saying, “RIP Mohbad, may you find peace.”

Mohbad was signed under Naira Marley “Marlian Records,” but he left the record label in 2022.

Some of his popular songs include Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke), with Rexxie which was nominated three times for 2022 Headies awards.

Mohbad was one of Nigeria rising musicians. He was born in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, in June 1996.

The singer is married to a Nigerian woman simply identified as Wunmi, and they have one son together named Liam.

He was signed under Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records,” but he changed labels in 2022 in the middle of some controversies.

In a recent interview, he spoke with former Reality TV star Tacha, who is also a radio host, Mohbad spoke about his relationship with Naira Marley.

Tacha shared clips from the interview a few hours after stories of his death broke.

In the interview, he says, “We just split from Marlian music to Imolenization, we just wan be on our own, but it didn’t come easy.”

He said it was not easy, but I would find a way. He added, There is no enmity between them, and things are cool between them.

Mohbad had released his first album, Light EP, in 2020. The most popular of his hit singles are Ponmo, Feel Good, and Ko Por Ke with Rexxie.

He also has collabs with artists like Bella Shmurda, Small Doctor, and Zlatan, among others.
